Ingredients
| 2 cups | whole wheat flour |
| 1 teaspoon | ajwain seeds |
| 1 teaspoon | salt |
| 2 tablespoons | ghee or oil |
| as needed | water |
| as needed | ghee or oil for cooking |
Instructions
- 1 In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, ajwain seeds, and salt.
- 2 Add ghee or oil to the flour mixture and mix well until it resembles breadcrumbs.
- 3 Gradually add water and knead into a soft dough. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- 4 Divide the dough into equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.
- 5 Flatten each ball slightly and roll it out into a circle of about 6 inches in diameter.
- 6 Heat a tawa or skillet over medium heat.
- 7 Place the rolled paratha on the hot tawa and cook for about 1-2 minutes until bubbles appear.
- 8 Flip the paratha and apply ghee or oil on the cooked side.
- 9 Cook the other side until golden brown spots appear, then flip again and apply ghee or oil on the other side.
- 10 Press gently with a spatula to ensure even cooking and crispness.
- 11 Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls.
- 12 Serve hot with yogurt, pickle, or any curry of your choice.
Tips
For a softer paratha, use warm water to knead the dough.
