Ingredients
| 1 cup | yellow split gram (chana dal) |
| 2 medium | potatoes |
| 1 small | onion |
| 2 cloves | garlic |
| 1 inch | ginger |
| 2 tablespoons | fresh coriander leaves |

| 1 teaspoon | cumin seeds |
| 1 teaspoon | red chili powder |
| 1 teaspoon | turmeric powder |
| 1 teaspoon | garam masala |
| — | oil for deep frying |
Instructions
- 1 Wash and soak the chana dal in water for 2-3 hours.
- 2 Peel and boil the potatoes until tender, then mash them.
- 3 Finely chop the onion, garlic, ginger, green chilies, and coriander leaves.
- 4 Drain the soaked chana dal and grind it coarsely without adding water.
- 5 In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, ground chana dal, chopped onion, garlic, ginger, green chilies, and coriander leaves.
- 6 Add salt, cumin seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala to the mixture.
- 7 Mix everything thoroughly to form a dough-like consistency.
- 8 Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- 9 Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into flat round pakoras.
- 10 Carefully drop the pakoras into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy.
- 11 Remove the pakoras with a slotted spoon and drain excess oil on paper towels.
- 12 Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
Tips
Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to avoid the pakoras becoming greasy.
