1 teaspoon garam masala
oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. 1 Wash and soak the chana dal in water for 2-3 hours.
  2. 2 Peel and boil the potatoes until tender, then mash them.
  3. 3 Finely chop the onion, garlic, ginger, green chilies, and coriander leaves.
  4. 4 Drain the soaked chana dal and grind it coarsely without adding water.
  5. 5 In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, ground chana dal, chopped onion, garlic, ginger, green chilies, and coriander leaves.
  6. 6 Add salt, cumin seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala to the mixture.
  7. 7 Mix everything thoroughly to form a dough-like consistency.
  8. 8 Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  9. 9 Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into flat round pakoras.
  10. 10 Carefully drop the pakoras into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy.

  12. 12 Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.

Tips

Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to avoid the pakoras becoming greasy.
