Ingredients

Mutton 500 grams Mutton , bone-in pieces
oil 2 tablespoons Oil
Onion 1 large Onion , finely sliced
Tomato 2 medium Tomato , chopped
ginger-garlic paste 1 tablespoon Ginger-garlic paste
red chili powder 2 teaspoons Red chili powder
turmeric powder 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
coriander powder 2 teaspoons Coriander powder
Cumin 1 teaspoon Cumin , powder
garam masala 1 teaspoon Garam masala
water 1 cup Water
salt Salt , to taste
Green Chili 2 Green Chili , slit
Cilantro 1 handful Cilantro , chopped

Instructions

  1. 1 Heat oil in a pressure cooker over medium heat.
  2. 2 Add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. 3 Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell disappears.
  4. 4 Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft.
  5. 5 Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix well.
  6. 6 Add mutton pieces and sauté for 5-7 minutes until they are well coated with the spices.
  7. 7 Add water and mix well. Close the lid of the pressure cooker.
  8. 8 Cook on medium heat for 3-4 whistles or until the mutton is tender.
  9. 9 Once the pressure releases, open the lid and add garam masala and slit green chilies.
  10. 10 Simmer for another 5 minutes to let the flavors blend.
  11. 11 Garnish with chopped coriander leaves before serving.

Tips

For a richer flavor, you can add a few curry leaves along with the onions.
