Ingredients
| 1 cup | sticky rice (glutinous rice) |
| 2 cups | water |
| 1 pinch | salt |
Instructions
- 1 Rinse the sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- 2 Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight for best results.
- 3 Drain the soaked rice and transfer it to a steamer basket lined with a muslin cloth or banana leaf.
- 4 Bring water to a boil in a steamer pot, then place the steamer basket over the boiling water.
- 5 Cover and steam the rice for about 30-40 minutes, or until the rice is translucent and sticky.
- 6 Check the rice occasionally and sprinkle a little water if it seems dry.
- 7 Once cooked, remove the rice from the steamer and let it sit for a few minutes before serving.
Tips
For a more aromatic flavor, you can add pandan leaves to the steaming water.
