Ingredients

1 cup sticky rice (glutinous rice)
2 cups water
1 pinch salt

Instructions

  1. 1 Rinse the sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. 2 Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight for best results.
  3. 3 Drain the soaked rice and transfer it to a steamer basket lined with a muslin cloth or banana leaf.
  4. 4 Bring water to a boil in a steamer pot, then place the steamer basket over the boiling water.
  5. 5 Cover and steam the rice for about 30-40 minutes, or until the rice is translucent and sticky.
  6. 6 Check the rice occasionally and sprinkle a little water if it seems dry.
  7. 7 Once cooked, remove the rice from the steamer and let it sit for a few minutes before serving.

Tips

For a more aromatic flavor, you can add pandan leaves to the steaming water.
