Ingredients

1 cup ripe pineapple, chopped
1 cup ripe mango, chopped
1 cup grated coconut
3 tablespoons jaggery
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
2 teaspoons red chili powder
1 pinch asafoetida
1 pinch turmeric powder
1 cup water
salt to taste

Instructions

  1. 1 In a blender, grind the grated coconut, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and a small amount of water to form a smooth paste.
  2. 2 In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped pineapple, chopped mango, and the ground coconut paste.
  3. 3 Add jaggery and salt to the mixture and mix well.
  4. 4 In a small pan, heat a little oil and add mustard seeds. Allow them to splutter.
  5. 5 Add asafoetida to the pan and immediately pour the tempering over the fruit and coconut mixture.
  6. 6 Mix everything well and adjust the consistency with water if needed.
  7. 7 Let the flavors meld for about 10 minutes before serving.
