Ingredients

1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup ghee
1/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
oil for frying

Instructions

  1. 1 In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and cardamom powder.
  2. 2 Add ghee to the dry ingredients and mix well until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  3. 3 Gradually add water and knead into a firm dough. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  4. 4 Divide the dough into small equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.
  5. 5 Flatten each ball slightly and make a small indentation in the center using your thumb.
  6. 6 Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  7. 7 Once the oil is hot, carefully slide in the flattened dough pieces.
  8. 8 Fry the babrus until they turn golden brown and crisp on both sides.
  9. 9 Remove the babrus from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  10. 10 Serve warm or at room temperature as a snack or with tea.

Tips

Ensure the oil is not too hot to avoid burning the babrus. Fry on medium heat for even cooking.
