Ingredients
| 1 cup | whole wheat flour |
| 1 cup | all-purpose flour |
| 1/2 cup | sugar |
| 1/4 cup | ghee |
| 1/4 cup | water |
| 1/2 teaspoon | baking powder |
| 1/4 teaspoon | cardamom powder |
| — | oil for frying |
Instructions
- 1 In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and cardamom powder.
- 2 Add ghee to the dry ingredients and mix well until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
- 3 Gradually add water and knead into a firm dough. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- 4 Divide the dough into small equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.
- 5 Flatten each ball slightly and make a small indentation in the center using your thumb.
- 6 Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- 7 Once the oil is hot, carefully slide in the flattened dough pieces.
- 8 Fry the babrus until they turn golden brown and crisp on both sides.
- 9 Remove the babrus from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- 10 Serve warm or at room temperature as a snack or with tea.
Tips
Ensure the oil is not too hot to avoid burning the babrus. Fry on medium heat for even cooking.
