Ingredients
| 1 cup | young bamboo shoots |
| 1 cup | sugar |
| 1 cup | water |
| 2 tablespoons | lemon juice |
| 1 teaspoon | cardamom powder |
| 1 pinch | saffron strands |
| 1 | salt to taste |
Instructions
- 1 Peel and slice the bamboo shoots into thin pieces.
- 2 Boil the bamboo slices in water with a pinch of salt for 10 minutes to remove bitterness.
- 3 Drain and rinse the bamboo slices under cold water.
- 4 In a separate pot, combine sugar and water, and bring to a boil to make a syrup.
- 5 Add the boiled bamboo slices to the syrup and cook on low heat for 20 minutes.
- 6 Stir in lemon juice, cardamom powder, and saffron strands.
- 7 Continue to cook until the syrup thickens and coats the bamboo slices.
- 8 Allow the murabba to cool before serving or storing in a jar.
