Ingredients
| 200 grams | basa fish fillets |
| 1 tablespoon | mustard oil |
| 1 teaspoon | turmeric powder |
| 1 teaspoon | red chili powder |
| 1 teaspoon | cumin seeds |
| 1 teaspoon | ginger-garlic paste |
| 1 medium | onion, finely chopped |
| 1 medium | tomato, chopped |
| 1 cup | water |
| — | salt to taste |
| 2 tablespoons | fresh coriander leaves, chopped |
Instructions
- 1 Cut the basa fish fillets into medium-sized pieces.
- 2 In a bowl, marinate the fish with turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Set aside for 15 minutes.
- 3 Heat mustard oil in a pan over medium heat.
- 4 Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- 5 Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell disappears.
- 6 Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
- 7 Add the chopped tomato and cook until it turns soft and the oil separates.
- 8 Add the marinated fish pieces and gently stir to coat them with the masala.
- 9 Pour in the water, cover, and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes until the fish is cooked through.
- 10 Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
Tips
For a richer flavor, you can add a pinch of garam masala towards the end of cooking.
