Ingredients
| 3 medium | potatoes |
| 2 tablespoons | oil |
| 1 teaspoon | mustard seeds |
| 1 teaspoon | cumin seeds |
| 1 pinch | asafoetida |
| 1 teaspoon | turmeric powder |
| 2 tablespoons | chopped fresh coriander |
| 2 tablespoons | grated coconut |
| 2 | green chilies, finely chopped |
| 1 | lemon, juiced |
| — | salt to taste |
Instructions
- 1 Peel and dice the potatoes into small cubes.
- 2 Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- 3 Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
- 4 Add cumin seeds and asafoetida, and sauté for a few seconds.
- 5 Add the diced potatoes and turmeric powder, and mix well.
- 6 Cover and cook on low heat until the potatoes are tender, stirring occasionally.
- 7 Add salt, green chilies, and lemon juice, and mix thoroughly.
- 8 Garnish with chopped coriander and grated coconut before serving.
Tips
For a spicier version, increase the number of green chilies.
