Ingredients
| 1 cup | rice flour |
| 1/4 cup | all-purpose flour |
| 1/4 cup | roasted gram dal flour |
| 2 tablespoons | grated coconut |
| 2 tablespoons | butter |
| 1 teaspoon | cumin seeds |
| 1 teaspoon | red chili powder |
| 1/4 teaspoon | asafoetida |
| 1 teaspoon | salt |
| 10 | curry leaves |
| 1 tablespoon | sesame seeds |
| — | oil for deep frying |
Instructions
- 1 In a large mixing bowl, combine rice flour, all-purpose flour, roasted gram dal flour, grated coconut, cumin seeds, red chili powder, asafoetida, salt, curry leaves, and sesame seeds.
- 2 Add butter to the dry ingredients and mix well until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 3 Gradually add water, a little at a time, and knead into a smooth, firm dough.
- 4 Divide the dough into small equal portions and roll each portion into a thin rope about 4-5 inches long.
- 5 Join the ends of each rope to form a ring and press gently to seal.
- 6 Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- 7 Once the oil is hot, carefully slide in the prepared rings and fry until they turn golden brown and crisp.
- 8 Remove the fried kodubale using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- 9 Serve warm or at room temperature as a snack.
Tips
Ensure the dough is firm to prevent the rings from breaking while frying. Adjust the spice level by adding more or less red chili powder.
