Ingredients
| 1 cup | rice flour |
| 1/4 cup | urad dal flour |
| 2 tablespoons | butter |
| 1 teaspoon | cumin seeds |
| 1 teaspoon | sesame seeds |
| 1/4 teaspoon | asafoetida |
| — | salt to taste |
| — | water as needed |
| — | oil for deep frying |
Instructions
- 1 In a large mixing bowl, combine rice flour, urad dal flour, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, asafoetida, and salt.
- 2 Add the butter to the dry ingredients and mix well until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
- 3 Gradually add water, a little at a time, and knead into a smooth, soft dough.
- 4 Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- 5 Fill a murukku press with the dough and press it into spirals on a small plate or directly into the hot oil.
- 6 Carefully slide the shaped murukku into the hot oil.
- 7 Fry the murukku until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.
- 8 Remove the fried murukku with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 9 Repeat the process with the remaining dough.
Tips
Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to avoid soggy murukku.
