Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup semolina
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1 tablespoon ghee
oil for frying

Instructions

  1. 1 In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, semolina, sugar, baking powder, and cardamom powder.
  2. 2 In a separate bowl, beat the egg and then add milk and ghee. Mix well.
  3. 3 Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring continuously to form a smooth batter.
  4. 4 Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  5. 5 Once the oil is hot, pour a small ladle of batter into the oil to form a small pancake.
  6. 6 Fry until golden brown on one side, then flip and fry the other side until golden brown.
  7. 7 Remove the bhakra from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  8. 8 Repeat the frying process with the remaining batter.

Tips

Ensure the oil is not too hot to prevent the bhakra from browning too quickly.
