Ingredients

2 cups jowar flour
1 cup water
salt to taste
1 cup fresh coriander leaves
2 green chilies
1 garlic clove
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 tablespoon peanuts
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon oil

Instructions

  1. 1 In a mixing bowl, combine jowar flour and salt.
  2. 2 Gradually add water to the flour, kneading to form a smooth dough.
  3. 3 Divide the dough into small portions and roll each into a ball.
  4. 4 Flatten each ball into a disc using your palms or a rolling pin.
  5. 5 Heat a tawa or skillet over medium heat.
  6. 6 Cook each bhakri on the tawa, pressing gently with a cloth or spatula, until both sides are golden brown.
  7. 7 For the chutney, blend coriander leaves, green chilies, garlic, cumin seeds, peanuts, lemon juice, and salt into a smooth paste.
  8. 8 Heat oil in a small pan and add the chutney paste, sautéing for 2-3 minutes.
  9. 9 Serve the hot bhakri with the prepared chutney.

Tips

If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour. For a spicier chutney, increase the number of green chilies.
