Ingredients
| 3 medium | onions |
| 1/2 cup | besan (gram flour) |
| 2 tablespoons | peanuts |
| 2 tablespoons | sesame seeds |
| 1 tablespoon | coriander powder |
| 1 teaspoon | cumin powder |
| 1 teaspoon | red chili powder |
| 1/2 teaspoon | turmeric powder |
| 1 teaspoon | garam masala |
| 1 teaspoon | sugar |
| to taste | salt |
| 2 tablespoons | oil |
| 1 tablespoon | lemon juice |
| 2 tablespoons | fresh coriander leaves, chopped |
Instructions
- 1 Peel the onions and make a cross slit on each, keeping the base intact.
- 2 In a bowl, mix besan, peanuts, sesame seeds, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, sugar, and salt.
- 3 Add lemon juice and chopped coriander leaves to the mixture and mix well to form a stuffing.
- 4 Stuff each onion with the prepared mixture, pressing gently to fill the slits.
- 5 Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- 6 Place the stuffed onions in the pan, cover, and cook on low heat.
- 7 Turn the onions occasionally and cook until they are tender and the stuffing is cooked through, about 20-25 minutes.
- 8 Serve hot with roti or rice.
Tips
For a richer flavor, roast the peanuts and sesame seeds before adding to the stuffing mixture.
