Ingredients

1 cup Bora Saul (sticky rice)
1 cup water
1/2 cup jaggery
1 cup grated coconut
1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. 1 Wash the Bora Saul thoroughly under running water.
  2. 2 Soak the washed rice in 1 cup of water for at least 4-5 hours or overnight for best results.
  3. 3 Drain the soaked rice and set aside.
  4. 4 In a pot, add the soaked rice and 1 cup of water. Bring it to a boil.
  5. 5 Once it starts boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer until the rice is cooked and sticky, about 20-25 minutes.
  6. 6 In a separate pan, melt the jaggery with a little water until it forms a syrup.
  7. 7 Add the jaggery syrup to the cooked rice and mix well.
  8. 8 Stir in the grated coconut and a pinch of salt. Mix until everything is well combined.
  9. 9 Serve the Bora Saul Jolpan warm or at room temperature.

Tips

Soaking the rice overnight will enhance its stickiness and texture.
