Ingredients
| 2 cups | water |
| 2 tablespoons | black tea leaves |
| 1/2 teaspoon | salt |
| 1/4 cup | yak butter or unsalted butter |
| 1/2 cup | milk |
| 1 pinch | baking soda |
Instructions
- 1 Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan.
- 2 Add the black tea leaves and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
- 3 Strain the tea into a churn or a large container suitable for shaking.
- 4 Add salt, butter, milk, and baking soda to the strained tea.
- 5 Pour the mixture back and forth between two containers several times to mix well and create a frothy texture.
- 6 Alternatively, churn the mixture vigorously using a butter churn or shake it in a tightly sealed container until frothy.
- 7 Serve the butter tea hot in cups.
Tips
For an authentic taste, use yak butter if available. Adjust the salt to taste based on preference.
