Ingredients

2 cups cabbage, finely shredded
1 cup grated coconut
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons coconut oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
2 teaspoons cumin seeds
2 green chilies, slit
1 sprig curry leaves
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
salt to taste

Instructions

  1. 1 Heat coconut oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. 2 Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
  3. 3 Add cumin seeds, green chilies, curry leaves, and sauté for a minute.
  4. 4 Add chopped onions and garlic, and sauté until onions turn translucent.
  5. 5 Add the shredded cabbage, turmeric powder, and salt.
  6. 6 Mix well and cook covered on low heat for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. 7 Add the grated coconut and mix thoroughly.
  8. 8 Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the cabbage is cooked but still crunchy.
  9. 9 Remove from heat and serve warm.

Tips

For an authentic taste, ensure to use fresh coconut and coconut oil.
