Ingredients

3 medium ripe tomatoes
8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese
1 cup fresh basil leaves
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
salt to taste
freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. 1 Wash and slice the tomatoes into 1/4-inch thick rounds.
  2. 2 Slice the fresh mozzarella cheese into 1/4-inch thick rounds.
  3. 3 Arrange the tomato and mozzarella slices on a platter, alternating between them.
  4. 4 Tuck fresh basil leaves between the slices of tomato and mozzarella.
  5. 5 Drizzle the extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the salad.
  6. 6 Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
