Ingredients
| 1 cup | all-purpose flour |
| 1 cup | water |
| 1 large | egg |
| 1 tablespoon | sugar |
| 1 teaspoon | baking powder |
| 1/4 teaspoon | salt |
| 1/2 teaspoon | ground turmeric |
| 1/2 teaspoon | ground cardamom |
| — | oil for cooking |
Instructions
- 1 In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, turmeric, and cardamom.
- 2 Add the egg and water to the dry ingredients and whisk until you have a smooth batter.
- 3 Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil.
- 4 Pour a small ladle of the batter into the pan and spread it into a thin circle.
- 5 Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges start to lift, about 2-3 minutes.
- 6 Flip the chabab and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
- 7 Repeat with the remaining batter, greasing the pan as needed.
- 8 Serve warm, optionally with honey or date syrup.
Tips
For a richer flavor, add a pinch of saffron to the batter.
