Ingredients
| 1 cup | black chickpeas (kala chana) |
| 1 medium | onion, finely chopped |
| 1 medium | tomato, finely chopped |
| 1 medium | boiled potato, diced |
| 1 tablespoon | lemon juice |
| 1 teaspoon | cumin powder |
| 1 teaspoon | chaat masala |
| 1 teaspoon | red chili powder |
| 1 tablespoon | fresh coriander leaves, chopped |
| — | salt to taste |
| — | sev for garnish |
Instructions
- 1 Rinse and soak the black chickpeas overnight or for at least 8 hours.
- 2 Drain the soaked chickpeas and pressure cook them with 2 cups of water and a pinch of salt until they are tender.
- 3 Once cooked, drain the chickpeas and let them cool to room temperature.
- 4 In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked chickpeas, chopped onion, tomato, and boiled potato.
- 5 Add lemon juice, cumin powder, chaat masala, red chili powder, and salt to the mixture.
- 6 Mix everything well until the spices are evenly coated on the chickpeas.
- 7 Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and sev before serving.
Tips
For an extra tangy flavor, you can add a bit of tamarind chutney to the chaat.
