Ingredients

1 cup black chickpeas (kala chana)
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 medium tomato, finely chopped
1 medium boiled potato, diced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon chaat masala
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 tablespoon fresh coriander leaves, chopped
salt to taste

Instructions

  1. 1 Rinse and soak the black chickpeas overnight or for at least 8 hours.
  2. 2 Drain the soaked chickpeas and pressure cook them with 2 cups of water and a pinch of salt until they are tender.
  3. 3 Once cooked, drain the chickpeas and let them cool to room temperature.
  4. 4 In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked chickpeas, chopped onion, tomato, and boiled potato.
  5. 5 Add lemon juice, cumin powder, chaat masala, red chili powder, and salt to the mixture.
  6. 6 Mix everything well until the spices are evenly coated on the chickpeas.
  7. 7 Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and sev before serving.

Tips

For an extra tangy flavor, you can add a bit of tamarind chutney to the chaat.
