Ingredients
| 1 cup | rice flour |
| 0.5 cup | urad dal flour |
| 1 tablespoon | butter |
| 1 teaspoon | cumin seeds |
| 1 teaspoon | sesame seeds |
| 0.5 teaspoon | red chili powder |
| 0.5 teaspoon | turmeric powder |
| 1 pinch | asafoetida |
| 1 teaspoon | salt |
| 1 cup | water |
| — | oil for deep frying |
Instructions
- 1 In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, urad dal flour, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, asafoetida, and salt.
- 2 Heat water in a pan and add butter to it. Bring it to a boil.
- 3 Gradually add the boiling water to the flour mixture, stirring continuously to form a soft dough.
- 4 Once the dough is cool enough to handle, knead it gently until smooth.
- 5 Take small portions of the dough and roll them into thin ropes.
- 6 Cut the ropes into small pieces, about 1 inch each, and join the ends to form small rings.
- 7 Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- 8 Once the oil is hot, carefully drop the rings into the oil and fry until they are golden brown and crispy.
- 9 Remove the fried chegodilu with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 10 Serve warm or at room temperature as a snack.
Tips
Ensure the dough is not too soft; otherwise, the rings will lose their shape while frying.
