Ingredients

1 cup rice flour
0.5 cup urad dal flour
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon sesame seeds
0.5 teaspoon red chili powder
0.5 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 pinch asafoetida
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup water
oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. 1 In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, urad dal flour, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, asafoetida, and salt.
  2. 2 Heat water in a pan and add butter to it. Bring it to a boil.
  3. 3 Gradually add the boiling water to the flour mixture, stirring continuously to form a soft dough.
  4. 4 Once the dough is cool enough to handle, knead it gently until smooth.
  5. 5 Take small portions of the dough and roll them into thin ropes.
  6. 6 Cut the ropes into small pieces, about 1 inch each, and join the ends to form small rings.
  7. 7 Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  8. 8 Once the oil is hot, carefully drop the rings into the oil and fry until they are golden brown and crispy.
  9. 9 Remove the fried chegodilu with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  10. 10 Serve warm or at room temperature as a snack.

Tips

Ensure the dough is not too soft; otherwise, the rings will lose their shape while frying.
