Ingredients
| 250 grams | raw jackfruit (chekke) |
| 1 tablespoon | vegetable oil |
| 1 teaspoon | mustard seeds |
| 1 teaspoon | cumin seeds |
| 2 | dried red chilies |
| 1 teaspoon | turmeric powder |
| 1 teaspoon | red chili powder |
| 1 teaspoon | coriander powder |
| 1 teaspoon | jaggery |
| 1 teaspoon | tamarind paste |
| 1 cup | water |
| — | salt to taste |
| 2 tablespoons | grated coconut |
| 1 tablespoon | fresh coriander leaves, chopped |
Instructions
- 1 Peel and cut the raw jackfruit into small cubes.
- 2 Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
- 3 Once the seeds start to splutter, add dried red chilies and sauté for a few seconds.
- 4 Add the jackfruit cubes to the pan and stir well.
- 5 Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix everything thoroughly.
- 6 Add jaggery and tamarind paste, then pour in the water.
- 7 Cover the pan and let it cook on low heat for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 8 Once the jackfruit is tender and the water has evaporated, add grated coconut and mix well.
- 9 Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
Tips
Ensure the jackfruit is tender before adding coconut for the best texture.
