Ingredients

250 grams raw jackfruit (chekke)
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
2 dried red chilies
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon jaggery
1 teaspoon tamarind paste
1 cup water
salt to taste
2 tablespoons grated coconut
1 tablespoon fresh coriander leaves, chopped

Instructions

  1. 1 Peel and cut the raw jackfruit into small cubes.
  2. 2 Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
  3. 3 Once the seeds start to splutter, add dried red chilies and sauté for a few seconds.
  4. 4 Add the jackfruit cubes to the pan and stir well.
  5. 5 Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix everything thoroughly.
  6. 6 Add jaggery and tamarind paste, then pour in the water.
  7. 7 Cover the pan and let it cook on low heat for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. 8 Once the jackfruit is tender and the water has evaporated, add grated coconut and mix well.
  9. 9 Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.

Tips

Ensure the jackfruit is tender before adding coconut for the best texture.
