Ingredients
| 200 grams | mushrooms (preferably button or oyster) |
| 1 cup | grated coconut |
| 1 tablespoon | mustard seeds |
| 2 tablespoons | mustard oil |
| 2 pieces | green chilies |
| 1 teaspoon | turmeric powder |
| 1 teaspoon | cumin seeds |
| 1 teaspoon | sugar |
| — | salt to taste |
| 1 cup | water |
| 1 handful | coriander leaves, chopped |
Instructions
- 1 Clean the mushrooms thoroughly and chop them into small pieces.
- 2 In a blender, make a paste of grated coconut, mustard seeds, and green chilies using a little water.
- 3 Heat mustard oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Allow them to splutter.
- 4 Add the chopped mushrooms to the pan and sauté for about 5 minutes.
- 5 Add the coconut-mustard paste to the mushrooms and mix well.
- 6 Add turmeric powder, salt, and sugar to the mixture and stir to combine.
- 7 Pour in the water and allow the mixture to simmer for about 15-20 minutes until the mushrooms are cooked and the flavors have melded together.
- 8 Garnish with chopped coriander leaves before serving.
Tips
For an authentic taste, ensure to use mustard oil and fresh coconut.
