Ingredients
| 250 grams | fresh prawns, cleaned and deveined |
| 4 tablespoons | mustard paste |
| 2 tablespoons | grated coconut |
| 2 tablespoons | mustard oil |
| 2 tablespoons | yogurt |
| 1 teaspoon | turmeric powder |
| 1 teaspoon | red chili powder |
| — | salt to taste |
| 3-4 | green chilies, slit |
| 4 | banana leaves, cut into squares |
| 1 | string for tying |
Instructions
- 1 In a mixing bowl, combine mustard paste, grated coconut, mustard oil, yogurt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt to taste.
- 2 Add the cleaned prawns to the mixture and coat them well.
- 3 Take a piece of banana leaf and place a portion of the prawn mixture in the center.
- 4 Place a slit green chili on top of the prawns.
- 5 Fold the banana leaf to make a parcel and tie it securely with a string.
- 6 Repeat the process for the remaining prawns and banana leaves.
- 7 Place the parcels in a steamer and steam for about 20-25 minutes until the prawns are cooked through.
- 8 Serve hot with steamed rice.
Tips
Ensure the banana leaves are fresh and flexible to avoid tearing while folding. You can lightly heat them over a flame to make them more pliable.
