Ingredients

250 grams small prawns, cleaned and deveined
1 cup chana dal (Bengal gram)
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 inch ginger, grated
2 pieces green chilies, finely chopped
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. 1 Wash and soak the chana dal in water for 2 hours.
  2. 2 Drain the soaked chana dal and grind it into a coarse paste without adding water.
  3. 3 In a large mixing bowl, combine the chana dal paste, prawns, chopped onion, garlic, ginger, green chilies, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt.
  4. 4 Mix everything thoroughly to form a thick batter.
  5. 5 Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  6. 6 Once the oil is hot, drop small portions of the batter into the oil using a spoon.
  7. 7 Fry the boras until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides.
  8. 8 Remove the boras from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  9. 9 Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.

Tips

Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to prevent the boras from absorbing too much oil.
