Ingredients
| 250 grams | small prawns, cleaned and deveined |
| 1 cup | chana dal (Bengal gram) |
| 1 medium | onion, finely chopped |
| 2 cloves | garlic, minced |
| 1 inch | ginger, grated |
| 2 pieces | green chilies, finely chopped |
| 1 teaspoon | turmeric powder |
| 1 teaspoon | red chili powder |
| 1 teaspoon | cumin powder |
| 1 teaspoon | coriander powder |
| Salt | to taste |
| Oil | for deep frying |
| Fresh coriander leaves | for garnish |
Instructions
- 1 Wash and soak the chana dal in water for 2 hours.
- 2 Drain the soaked chana dal and grind it into a coarse paste without adding water.
- 3 In a large mixing bowl, combine the chana dal paste, prawns, chopped onion, garlic, ginger, green chilies, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt.
- 4 Mix everything thoroughly to form a thick batter.
- 5 Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- 6 Once the oil is hot, drop small portions of the batter into the oil using a spoon.
- 7 Fry the boras until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides.
- 8 Remove the boras from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- 9 Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
Tips
Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to prevent the boras from absorbing too much oil.
