Ingredients

1 cup cholia (green chickpeas)
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain)
1 tablespoon ghee
water as needed

Instructions

  1. 1 Boil the cholia in water until they are soft, then drain and mash them lightly.
  2. 2 In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, salt, carom seeds, and mashed cholia.
  3. 3 Add ghee to the mixture and mix well.
  4. 4 Gradually add water and knead into a soft dough.
  5. 5 Divide the dough into small balls and roll each into a flat roti.
  6. 6 Heat a tawa or skillet over medium heat.
  7. 7 Cook each roti on the tawa until both sides are golden brown, applying a little ghee if desired.

Tips

Serve hot with yogurt or pickle for an authentic touch.
