Ingredients

1 cup rice flour
1 cup wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain)
1 cup water
2 tablespoons oil
oil for frying

Instructions

  1. 1 In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, wheat flour, salt, and carom seeds.
  2. 2 Gradually add water to the dry ingredients, mixing continuously to form a smooth dough.
  3. 3 Knead the dough for a few minutes until it is soft and pliable.
  4. 4 Divide the dough into small balls, roughly the size of a lemon.
  5. 5 Flatten each ball into a disc using your palms or a rolling pin, ensuring it's not too thick.
  6. 6 Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  7. 7 Once the oil is hot, carefully slide one flattened dough disc into the oil.
  8. 8 Fry until golden brown on both sides, flipping occasionally.
  9. 9 Remove from oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  10. 10 Repeat the frying process with the remaining dough discs.
  11. 11 Serve hot with chutney or curry of your choice.

Tips

Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to avoid the rotis absorbing too much oil.
