Ingredients
| 1 cup | rice flour |
| 1 cup | wheat flour |
| 1/2 teaspoon | salt |
| 1 teaspoon | carom seeds (ajwain) |
| 1 cup | water |
| 2 tablespoons | oil |
| — | oil for frying |
Instructions
- 1 In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, wheat flour, salt, and carom seeds.
- 2 Gradually add water to the dry ingredients, mixing continuously to form a smooth dough.
- 3 Knead the dough for a few minutes until it is soft and pliable.
- 4 Divide the dough into small balls, roughly the size of a lemon.
- 5 Flatten each ball into a disc using your palms or a rolling pin, ensuring it's not too thick.
- 6 Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- 7 Once the oil is hot, carefully slide one flattened dough disc into the oil.
- 8 Fry until golden brown on both sides, flipping occasionally.
- 9 Remove from oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- 10 Repeat the frying process with the remaining dough discs.
- 11 Serve hot with chutney or curry of your choice.
Tips
Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to avoid the rotis absorbing too much oil.
