Ingredients

1 cup plain yogurt
2 tablespoons fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped
1 tablespoon mint leaves, finely chopped
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 small green chili, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. 1 In a mixing bowl, whisk the yogurt until smooth.
  2. 2 Add the finely chopped coriander leaves, mint leaves, red chili powder, sugar, and salt to the yogurt. Mix well.
  3. 3 In a small pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
  4. 4 Add the cumin seeds and mustard seeds to the hot oil. Allow them to splutter.
  5. 5 Add the finely chopped onion and green chili to the pan. Sauté until the onion turns golden brown.
  6. 6 Pour the tempered mixture over the yogurt and mix everything together.
  7. 7 Adjust salt and sugar to taste.
  8. 8 Chill the dahi chutney in the refrigerator for at least 10 minutes before serving.

Tips

For a thicker consistency, strain the yogurt using a muslin cloth before mixing.
