Ingredients

1 cup white sesame seeds
1 cup jaggery
2 tablespoons ghee
1 teaspoon cardamom powder
2 tablespoons grated coconut
1 tablespoon cashew nuts
1 tablespoon raisins

Instructions

  1. 1 Dry roast the sesame seeds in a pan over medium heat until they start to pop and turn golden. Set aside to cool.
  2. 2 In the same pan, add ghee and fry the cashew nuts until golden brown, then add raisins and fry until they puff up. Remove and set aside.
  3. 3 Grate the jaggery and melt it in a pan with a tablespoon of water over low heat until it forms a syrup. Ensure it reaches a soft ball consistency.
  4. 4 Add the roasted sesame seeds, cardamom powder, grated coconut, fried cashew nuts, and raisins to the jaggery syrup. Mix well.
  5. 5 Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then grease your palms with ghee and shape the mixture into small balls or 'laddus'.
  6. 6 Let the Ellu Unde cool completely before serving or storing.

Tips

Ensure the jaggery syrup reaches the right consistency to help bind the laddus properly.
