Ingredients

1 cup broken wheat (daliya)
2 tablespoons ghee
3/4 cup jaggery
2 cups water
1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
2 tablespoons chopped almonds
2 tablespoons raisins
saffron strands (optional)
pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. 1 Heat ghee in a pan on medium heat.
  2. 2 Add broken wheat and roast it in ghee until it turns golden brown and releases a nutty aroma.
  3. 3 In a separate pot, bring water to a boil and dissolve the jaggery in it. Strain to remove impurities if necessary.
  4. 4 Add the jaggery water to the roasted broken wheat, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  5. 5 Add a pinch of salt and cardamom powder, then cover and cook on low heat until the wheat absorbs the liquid and becomes soft.
  6. 6 Once cooked, add chopped almonds, raisins, and saffron strands if using. Mix well.
  7. 7 Serve warm, garnished with additional nuts if desired.

Tips

For a richer flavor, use more ghee and roast the wheat slowly over low heat.
