Ingredients

1 cup young jackfruit (fanas), peeled and cubed
2 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 pinch asafoetida (hing)
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 tablespoon Malvani masala
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 medium tomato, chopped
1 tablespoon grated coconut
1 tablespoon coriander leaves, chopped
salt to taste
1 cup water

Instructions

  1. 1 Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. 2 Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds, allowing them to splutter.
  3. 3 Add asafoetida and turmeric powder, stirring quickly.
  4. 4 Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
  5. 5 Stir in the chopped tomato and cook until soft.
  6. 6 Add the cubed jackfruit and mix well.
  7. 7 Sprinkle Malvani masala, red chili powder, and salt over the mixture.
  8. 8 Add water, cover the pan, and let it cook until the jackfruit is tender.
  9. 9 Once cooked, add grated coconut and mix thoroughly.
  10. 10 Garnish with chopped coriander leaves before serving.
