Ingredients

250 grams fresh fish (Rohu or Catla)
1 medium onion
1 teaspoon ginger paste
1 teaspoon garlic paste
2 tablespoons gram flour (besan)
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 green chili
1 tablespoon mustard oil
salt to taste
water as needed
oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. 1 Clean and cut the fish into small pieces.
  2. 2 In a bowl, mix the fish pieces with turmeric powder, red chili powder, ginger paste, garlic paste, and salt. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.
  3. 3 Finely chop the onion and green chili.
  4. 4 In a mixing bowl, combine the marinated fish, chopped onion, green chili, and gram flour. Add a little water if needed to form a thick batter.
  5. 5 Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  6. 6 Once the oil is hot, drop spoonfuls of the fish mixture into the oil and fry until golden brown and crispy.
  7. 7 Remove the fish bor from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  8. 8 Serve hot as a snack or side dish.

Tips

For an authentic taste, use mustard oil for frying. Adjust the amount of green chili according to your spice preference.
