Ingredients
| 2 cups | whole wheat flour |
| 1 cup | water |
| 2 tablespoons | ghee |
| 1 teaspoon | salt |
| 1 cup | ghee for cooking |
Instructions
- 1 In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt.
- 2 Gradually add water and knead into a soft dough. It should be pliable but not sticky.
- 3 Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- 4 Divide the dough into small, equal-sized balls.
- 5 Roll out each ball into a thin, round disc using a rolling pin.
- 6 Heat a tawa or flat skillet over medium heat.
- 7 Place the rolled-out dough on the hot tawa.
- 8 Cook until small bubbles form on the surface, then flip.
- 9 Apply a small amount of ghee on the cooked side and flip again.
- 10 Press gently with a spatula to help it puff up.
- 11 Repeat the process for the other side, applying ghee as needed.
- 12 Remove from heat once both sides are golden brown and cooked through.
- 13 Repeat for the remaining dough balls.
Tips
For softer rotlis, ensure the dough is well-kneaded and rested.
