Ingredients
| 2 cups | jowar flour |
| 1 cup | water |
| 1 small | onion, finely chopped |
| 1 small | carrot, grated |
| 2 tablespoons | coriander leaves, finely chopped |
| 2 teaspoons | green chili, finely chopped |
| 1 teaspoon | cumin seeds |
| — | salt to taste |
| — | oil for cooking |
Instructions
- 1 In a large mixing bowl, combine jowar flour, onion, carrot, coriander leaves, green chili, cumin seeds, and salt.
- 2 Gradually add water to the mixture, kneading it into a soft dough. The dough should be pliable but not sticky.
- 3 Divide the dough into small portions, roughly the size of a lemon.
- 4 Take a portion of the dough and flatten it between your palms to form a disc.
- 5 Place the disc on a plastic sheet or banana leaf and gently pat it out into a thin circle, using your fingertips.
- 6 Heat a griddle or tawa over medium heat and grease it lightly with oil.
- 7 Carefully transfer the flattened rotti onto the hot griddle.
- 8 Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side, then flip and cook the other side until golden brown spots appear.
- 9 Repeat the process with the remaining dough portions.
- 10 Serve hot with chutney or curry of your choice.
Tips
Use a damp cloth to help pat the dough if it sticks to your fingers.
