Ingredients
| 1 cup | whole wheat flour |
| 1 cup | jaggery |
| 1/2 cup | water |
| 2 tablespoons | ghee |
| 1/4 teaspoon | cardamom powder |
| 1 pinch | salt |
| as needed | oil for cooking |
Instructions
- 1 In a bowl, mix whole wheat flour with a pinch of salt and add water gradually to form a soft dough. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- 2 In a pan, add jaggery and water. Heat until the jaggery melts completely. Stir in cardamom powder and ghee, then let it cool slightly.
- 3 Divide the dough into small balls. Roll each ball into a small disc.
- 4 Place a spoonful of the jaggery mixture in the center of each disc, fold the edges over the filling, and seal it.
- 5 Gently roll out the filled dough balls into flat, round polis.
- 6 Heat a tawa or flat pan over medium heat. Cook each poli on both sides until golden brown, applying oil as needed.
- 7 Serve warm, optionally with a dollop of ghee on top.
Tips
Ensure the jaggery mixture is not too hot when filling the dough to prevent tearing.
