Ingredients

water 2 cups Water
Tea Leaf 1 cup Tea Leaf , butter or black
Milk 1 cup Milk , full-fat
butter 1 tablespoon Butter
salt 1 teaspoon Salt
baking soda Baking soda , pinch of

Instructions

  1. 1 Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan.
  2. 2 Add the butter tea leaves or black tea leaves to the boiling water.
  3. 3 Let the tea simmer for about 5 minutes to extract the flavors.
  4. 4 Strain the tea leaves and return the tea to the saucepan.
  5. 5 Add a pinch of baking soda to the tea and stir well.
  6. 6 Pour in the milk and bring the mixture back to a gentle boil.
  7. 7 Add the butter and salt to the tea, stirring until the butter melts completely.
  8. 8 Simmer the tea for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  9. 9 Taste and adjust the salt as needed before serving.

Tips

Traditionally, this tea is churned in a wooden churner for a frothy texture. You can use a blender for similar results.
