Ingredients
| 2 cups | water |
| 1 cup | butter tea leaves or black tea leaves |
| 1 cup | milk |
| 1 tablespoon | butter |
| 1 teaspoon | salt |
| — | pinch of baking soda |
Instructions
- 1 Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan.
- 2 Add the butter tea leaves or black tea leaves to the boiling water.
- 3 Let the tea simmer for about 5 minutes to extract the flavors.
- 4 Strain the tea leaves and return the tea to the saucepan.
- 5 Add a pinch of baking soda to the tea and stir well.
- 6 Pour in the milk and bring the mixture back to a gentle boil.
- 7 Add the butter and salt to the tea, stirring until the butter melts completely.
- 8 Simmer the tea for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 9 Taste and adjust the salt as needed before serving.
Tips
Traditionally, this tea is churned in a wooden churner for a frothy texture. You can use a blender for similar results.
