Ingredients
| 1 cup | fresh green chickpeas (hare chane) |
| 1 tablespoon | oil |
| 1 teaspoon | cumin seeds |
| 1 medium | onion, finely chopped |
| 1 medium | tomato, finely chopped |
| 1 teaspoon | ginger-garlic paste |
| 1 teaspoon | turmeric powder |
| 1 teaspoon | red chili powder |
| 1 teaspoon | coriander powder |
| 0.5 teaspoon | garam masala |
| — | salt to taste |
| 2 tablespoons | fresh coriander leaves, chopped |
Instructions
- 1 Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and add cumin seeds.
- 2 Once the cumin seeds splutter, add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
- 3 Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another minute until the raw smell disappears.
- 4 Add the chopped tomato and cook until it becomes soft and the oil starts to separate.
- 5 Stir in the turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Mix well.
- 6 Add the fresh green chickpeas and stir to coat them with the spices.
- 7 Add a little water, cover the pan, and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes until the chickpeas are tender.
- 8 Uncover the pan, add garam masala, and salt to taste. Mix well.
- 9 Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
Tips
For a richer flavor, you can add a teaspoon of ghee at the end before serving.
