Ingredients

10-12 green chilies
5 cloves garlic
1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves
1 tablespoon peanuts
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 tablespoon oil
salt to taste

Instructions

  1. 1 Heat a pan on medium flame and dry roast the peanuts until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  2. 2 In the same pan, add oil and heat it on medium flame.
  3. 3 Add cumin seeds to the hot oil and let them splutter.
  4. 4 Add the green chilies and garlic cloves to the pan. Sauté until the chilies are slightly blistered and garlic is golden.
  5. 5 Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
  6. 6 In a mortar and pestle or a grinder, add the roasted peanuts, sautéed chilies, garlic, and cumin seeds.
  7. 7 Add fresh coriander leaves and salt to taste.
  8. 8 Grind the mixture coarsely to form a thick paste.
  9. 9 Serve the Hirwa Thecha with bhakri or as a side with any meal.

Adjust the number of green chilies based on your spice preference.
