Ingredients

1 cup Hurigalu (mixed roasted lentils and pulses)
1 cup fresh grated coconut
3 green chilies
1 tablespoon tamarind pulp
1 teaspoon jaggery
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon urad dal
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 pinch asafoetida
1 handful coriander leaves
1 cup water

Instructions

  1. 1 Grind the Hurigalu, grated coconut, green chilies, tamarind pulp, jaggery, and salt together with a little water to make a smooth paste.
  2. 2 Heat oil in a small pan and add mustard seeds.
  3. 3 Once the mustard seeds splutter, add urad dal and fry until golden brown.
  4. 4 Add a pinch of asafoetida to the tempering and mix well.
  5. 5 Pour the tempering over the ground chutney and mix thoroughly.
  6. 6 Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves before serving.

Tips

You can adjust the number of green chilies based on your spice preference.
