Ingredients
| 1 cup | Hurigalu (mixed roasted lentils and pulses) |
| 1 cup | fresh grated coconut |
| 3 | green chilies |
| 1 tablespoon | tamarind pulp |
| 1 teaspoon | jaggery |
| 1 teaspoon | salt |
| 1 teaspoon | mustard seeds |
| 1 teaspoon | urad dal |
| 1 tablespoon | vegetable oil |
| 1 pinch | asafoetida |
| 1 handful | coriander leaves |
| 1 cup | water |
Instructions
- 1 Grind the Hurigalu, grated coconut, green chilies, tamarind pulp, jaggery, and salt together with a little water to make a smooth paste.
- 2 Heat oil in a small pan and add mustard seeds.
- 3 Once the mustard seeds splutter, add urad dal and fry until golden brown.
- 4 Add a pinch of asafoetida to the tempering and mix well.
- 5 Pour the tempering over the ground chutney and mix thoroughly.
- 6 Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves before serving.
Tips
You can adjust the number of green chilies based on your spice preference.
