Ingredients
| 1 cup | tamarind pulp |
| 1 cup | jaggery |
| 1 teaspoon | red chili powder |
| 1 teaspoon | roasted cumin powder |
| 1 teaspoon | black salt |
| 1 teaspoon | salt |
| 1 cup | water |
| 1 tablespoon | oil |
| 1 teaspoon | mustard seeds |
| 1 pinch | asafoetida |
Instructions
- 1 In a pan, heat oil over medium flame and add mustard seeds.
- 2 Once the mustard seeds start to splutter, add a pinch of asafoetida.
- 3 Add the tamarind pulp and water to the pan and stir well.
- 4 Add jaggery to the mixture and cook until it dissolves completely.
- 5 Mix in red chili powder, roasted cumin powder, black salt, and salt.
- 6 Cook the mixture on low flame until it thickens to a chutney consistency, stirring occasionally.
- 7 Remove from heat and let it cool before serving.
Tips
Adjust the jaggery amount to balance the sweetness and tanginess according to your taste.
