Ingredients

1 cup white rice
2 cups water
salt to taste

Instructions

  1. 1 Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
  2. 2 Soak the rice in water for 15 minutes, then drain.
  3. 3 In a medium saucepan, combine the soaked rice, 2 cups of water, and salt to taste.
  4. 4 Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.
  5. 5 Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid, and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until all the water is absorbed.
  6. 6 Remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 10 minutes to allow the rice to finish steaming.
  7. 7 Fluff the rice gently with a fork before serving.

Tips

For a more aromatic flavor, you can add a pandan leaf or a piece of ginger while cooking.
