Ingredients

300 grams lamb or beef, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup plain yogurt
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 pieces pide bread or pita bread
1 cup tomato sauce
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 tablespoon sugar
fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. 1 In a bowl, combine the sliced meat with olive oil, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Mix well and let marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. 2 Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the marinated meat until browned and cooked through. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. 3 In a separate saucepan, melt the butter and add the tomato paste. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the paste is fragrant.
  4. 4 Add the tomato sauce, red pepper flakes, vinegar, and sugar to the saucepan. Stir well and let the sauce simmer for 5-7 minutes. Adjust seasoning if needed.
  5. 5 Toast the pide bread or pita bread until crispy, then cut into bite-sized pieces.
  6. 6 In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic with the plain yogurt.
  7. 7 To assemble, place the toasted bread pieces on a serving platter. Top with the cooked meat.
  8. 8 Pour the tomato sauce over the meat and bread, then drizzle with the garlic yogurt.
  9. 9 Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Tips

For an authentic touch, use a mix of lamb and beef. Serve with grilled green peppers and tomatoes on the side.
