Ingredients
| 1 loaf | Italian bread |
| 4 tablespoons | unsalted butter |
| 3 cloves | garlic, minced |
| 2 tablespoons | fresh parsley, chopped |
| 1 tablespoon | olive oil |
| — | salt to taste |
| — | freshly ground black pepper to taste |
| 1/4 cup | grated Parmesan cheese (optional) |
Instructions
- 1 Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 2 Slice the Italian bread loaf in half lengthwise.
- 3 In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter.
- 4 Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
- 5 Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the chopped parsley, olive oil, salt, and black pepper.
- 6 Place the bread halves on a baking sheet, cut side up.
- 7 Evenly spread the garlic butter mixture over the cut sides of the bread.
- 8 If using, sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the top of the buttered bread.
- 9 Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and crispy.
- 10 Remove from the oven, let it cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
Tips
For a more robust flavor, consider adding a pinch of red pepper flakes to the garlic butter mixture.
