Ingredients
| 1 cup | besan (gram flour) |
| 2 tablespoons | oil |
| 1 teaspoon | mustard seeds |
| 1 teaspoon | cumin seeds |
| 1 pinch | asafoetida |
| 1 medium | onion, finely chopped |
| 2 cloves | garlic, minced |
| 2 small | green chilies, chopped |
| 1 teaspoon | turmeric powder |
| 1 teaspoon | red chili powder |
| to taste | salt |
| 1 cup | water |
| 2 tablespoons | fresh coriander leaves, chopped |
Instructions
- 1 Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- 2 Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
- 3 Add cumin seeds and asafoetida, sauté for a few seconds.
- 4 Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
- 5 Add minced garlic and chopped green chilies, sauté for another minute.
- 6 Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt, stir well.
- 7 In a bowl, mix besan with water to form a smooth batter.
- 8 Gradually add the besan batter to the pan, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
- 9 Cook the mixture on low heat, stirring frequently until it thickens and leaves the sides of the pan.
- 10 Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
Tips
Serve with bhakri or chapati for a complete meal.
