Ingredients
| 1 cup | jowar (sorghum) flour |
| 1/2 cup | rice |
| 3 cups | water |
| — | salt to taste |
Instructions
- 1 Rinse the rice thoroughly under cold water and drain.
- 2 In a large pot, bring 3 cups of water to a boil.
- 3 Add the rice and salt to the boiling water and cook until the rice is soft and fully cooked.
- 4 Once the rice is cooked, reduce the heat to low.
- 5 Gradually add the jowar flour to the rice, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
- 6 Continue stirring and cooking until the mixture thickens and comes together as a dough-like consistency.
- 7 Cover the pot and let it steam for a few minutes on low heat to ensure the flour is fully cooked.
- 8 Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- 9 Wet your hands with water and shape the mixture into balls or portions as desired.
Tips
Serve hot with a dollop of ghee and traditional Rayalaseema curry or chutney for an authentic experience.
