Ingredients

1 cup jowar (sorghum) flour
1/2 cup rice
3 cups water
salt to taste

Instructions

  1. 1 Rinse the rice thoroughly under cold water and drain.
  2. 2 In a large pot, bring 3 cups of water to a boil.
  3. 3 Add the rice and salt to the boiling water and cook until the rice is soft and fully cooked.
  4. 4 Once the rice is cooked, reduce the heat to low.
  5. 5 Gradually add the jowar flour to the rice, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  6. 6 Continue stirring and cooking until the mixture thickens and comes together as a dough-like consistency.
  7. 7 Cover the pot and let it steam for a few minutes on low heat to ensure the flour is fully cooked.
  8. 8 Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  9. 9 Wet your hands with water and shape the mixture into balls or portions as desired.

Tips

Serve hot with a dollop of ghee and traditional Rayalaseema curry or chutney for an authentic experience.
