1 tbsp | Vegetable oil |

1 tsp | Mustard Seed |
|
1 tsp | Urad dal |
|
2 | Red Chili , dried |
|
1 pinch | Asafoetida |
|
1 sprig | Curry Leaf |
|
1 cup | Coconut , grated |
|
1 small | Tamarind , piece |
|
1 tsp | Salt |
|
1/2 cup | Water |
Instructions
- 1 Dry roast the kadalai paruppu in a pan on medium heat until golden brown. Set aside to cool.
- 2 In the same pan, heat vegetable oil and add mustard seeds. Allow them to splutter.
- 3 Add urad dal, dried red chilies, asafoetida, and curry leaves. Fry until the urad dal turns golden.
- 4 In a blender, combine the roasted kadalai paruppu, fried spice mixture, grated coconut, tamarind piece, and salt.
- 5 Add water gradually and blend to a smooth consistency.
- 6 Adjust the consistency with additional water if necessary and check seasoning.
Tips
For a richer flavor, you can add a teaspoon of sesame oil while blending.
