Ingredients
| 1 cup | all-purpose flour |
| 2 tablespoons | ghee |
| 1 pinch | baking soda |
| 1 cup | sugar |
| 1 cup | water |
| 1 teaspoon | cardamom powder |
| as needed | oil for deep frying |
Instructions
- 1 In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, ghee, and baking soda. Add enough water to make a soft dough. Cover and let it rest for 20 minutes.
- 2 Meanwhile, prepare the sugar syrup by boiling sugar and water together until it reaches a one-string consistency. Add cardamom powder and set aside.
- 3 Divide the dough into small portions and roll each into a thin oval shape.
- 4 Fold the oval dough into half and then again into a quarter, pressing lightly to seal the edges.
- 5 Heat oil in a deep frying pan. Once hot, fry the prepared dough pieces on medium heat until they turn golden brown and crisp.
- 6 Remove from oil and immediately dip them into the warm sugar syrup. Let them soak for a minute, ensuring they are well-coated.
- 7 Remove from syrup and let them cool on a plate.
Tips
Ensure the sugar syrup is warm, not hot, when soaking the fried dough to maintain crispiness.
