Ingredients

200 grams fresh fish (preferably catfish or any white fish)
1 cup banana stem, chopped
1 cup mustard leaves, chopped
2 tablespoons fermented fish (ngari)
2 cups water
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
salt to taste
2 green chilies, slit
1 tablespoon mustard oil

Instructions

  1. 1 Clean the fish thoroughly and cut it into medium-sized pieces.
  2. 2 In a pot, add the water and bring it to a boil.
  3. 3 Add the fish pieces, chopped banana stem, and mustard leaves to the boiling water.
  4. 4 Add the turmeric powder, salt, and green chilies to the pot.
  5. 5 Let it simmer for about 20 minutes until the banana stem is tender and the fish is cooked.
  6. 6 Add the fermented fish (ngari) and stir gently to mix well.
  7. 7 Cook for another 10 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
  8. 8 Drizzle mustard oil over the dish before serving.

Tips

For a more authentic taste, use fresh mustard leaves and adjust the amount of fermented fish to suit your taste preference.
