Ingredients
| 200 grams | fresh fish (preferably catfish or any white fish) |
| 1 cup | banana stem, chopped |
| 1 cup | mustard leaves, chopped |
| 2 tablespoons | fermented fish (ngari) |
| 2 cups | water |
| 1 teaspoon | turmeric powder |
| — | salt to taste |
| 2 | green chilies, slit |
| 1 tablespoon | mustard oil |
Instructions
- 1 Clean the fish thoroughly and cut it into medium-sized pieces.
- 2 In a pot, add the water and bring it to a boil.
- 3 Add the fish pieces, chopped banana stem, and mustard leaves to the boiling water.
- 4 Add the turmeric powder, salt, and green chilies to the pot.
- 5 Let it simmer for about 20 minutes until the banana stem is tender and the fish is cooked.
- 6 Add the fermented fish (ngari) and stir gently to mix well.
- 7 Cook for another 10 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
- 8 Drizzle mustard oil over the dish before serving.
Tips
For a more authentic taste, use fresh mustard leaves and adjust the amount of fermented fish to suit your taste preference.
