Ingredients

250 grams | Crab , cleaned and cut into pieces |

2 tablespoons | Mustard oil |
|
1 teaspoon | Panch Phoron |
|
1 teaspoon | Turmeric powder |
|
1 teaspoon | Red chili powder |
|
1 teaspoon | Coriander powder |
|
1 teaspoon | Cumin , powder |
|
1 cup | Potato , cubed |
|
1 cup | Tomato , chopped |
|
1 cup | Onion , finely chopped |
|
1 tablespoon | Ginger-garlic paste |
|
2 cups | Water |
|
— | Salt , to taste |
|
2 tablespoons | Cilantro , chopped |
Instructions
- 1 Heat mustard oil in a pan until it starts to smoke, then reduce the heat.
- 2 Add panch phoron and let it splutter.
- 3 Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- 4 Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute until the raw smell disappears.
- 5 Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and oil separates.
- 6 Mix in turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and cumin powder. Cook for another 2 minutes.
- 7 Add the cubed potatoes and crab pieces. Stir well to coat with the spices.
- 8 Pour in water and add salt to taste. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- 9 Reduce the heat, cover, and let it simmer for about 25 minutes until the potatoes are cooked and the crab is tender.
- 10 Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
Tips
For a richer flavor, marinate the crab with a bit of turmeric and salt for 15 minutes before cooking.
