Ingredients

1 cup Kerala parboiled rice
4 cups water
salt to taste

Instructions

  1. 1 Rinse the Kerala parboiled rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. 2 Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes.
  3. 3 Drain the soaked rice and set aside.
  4. 4 In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
  5. 5 Add the drained rice and salt to the boiling water.
  6. 6 Stir the rice once to prevent sticking.
  7. 7 Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot with a lid, and let it simmer for 20-25 minutes.
  8. 8 Check if the rice is cooked by tasting a few grains; it should be soft yet slightly firm.
  9. 9 Once cooked, remove the pot from heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes.
  10. 10 Fluff the rice gently with a fork before serving.
